heliguy™ is delighted to announce that it has won a prestigious prize at the renowned North Tyneside Business Awards 2018, thanks to the company's outstanding customer service and passion to develop the drone industry.
The North Shields-based UAV expert was presented with the Retail and Service Provider Award at last night's ceremony, staged at the recently revamped Spanish City, in Whitley Bay.
heliguy™ beat the other shortlisted finalists - NBT Group, in Killingworth, and Oatein, in Whitley Bay - to win the category, which was sponsored by the North Tyneside Business Forum and recognised businesses who sell a product or service.

David W Bavaird, chairman of North Tyneside Business Forum, praised heliguy™ and explained why the company came out on top. He said: “Congratulations to heliguy™ on picking up the Retail and Service Provider Award. The retail and service sector is collectively at the forefront of what makes North Tyneside a leading destination in the region. heliguy™ has a real passion to succeed and grow its business and for this reason it was awarded the accolade.” Founded in Alnwick, Northumberland, around a decade ago, heliguy™ moved to Orion Business Park, at North Shields, in 2013, as part of a business expansion. And the firm hasn’t looked back. Over the years, the company, which currently employs 23 people, has grown its reputation within the drone industry and is the UK’s leading retailer of world-renowned technology giant, DJI. heliguy™ sells a range of drones, including those which are changing the landscape in the enterprise sector, such as the DJI Mavic 2 Enterprise – designed for public safety – and the DJI Phantom 4 RTK, which is an accurate low-altitude mapping solution. heliguy™ also has a drone-rental offer. Clients of heliguy™ include Balfour Beatty, Banks Mining, Northern Powergrid and numerous police forces, among many other companies and organisations. Heliguy, which also offers a repairs service, expert advice and a customer-friendly experience, is accredited by the Civil Aviation Authority to provide PfCO (Permission for Commercial Operations) training. The company also delivers bespoke tutorials. Earlier this month, Heliguy hosted an Emergency Services Roadshow in Lincoln, which was attended by 50 emergency-service personnel, including representatives from almost half of the UK’s police forces. Held in partnership with DJI, the event doubled up as the official UK launch of the Mavic 2 Enterprise. Looking to the future, heliguy™ is looking to expand into other areas of the industry, including growing research and development, creating products to improve the consumer experience of these systems and expanding all departments of the business to provide more drones to more customers.
The annual North Tyneside Business Awards celebrate the huge contribution that businesses make to the local economy and how they make North Tyneside a great place to live, work and visit. Other categories included New Business, Leisure and Tourism, Manufacturing and Construction, and Digital and Innovation, as well as the public voted-for Heart of the Community Award.
